The Enchanted Cauldron
Quarterly Newsletter of The Enchanted Moon Academy - Imbolc Edition 2026
✨ A Message from the Head
Dear Students,
Imbolc arrives quietly, like the first green shoots pushing their way through the old, rotting leaves of winter. The land is not yet fully awake, but something has shifted. The light is returning. The sap is rising. And with it comes that familiar, stirring feeling — the sense that it is time to begin again.
Traditionally, Imbolc is a season of purification and renewal. A time to shake off winter’s slumber, clear away what has become stale or obsolete, and make space for what is ready to grow. In the home, this might once have meant sweeping hearth and floor, blessing the household flame, and preparing for the year ahead. In our spiritual lives, it invites us to do much the same.
This is a wonderful moment to pause and take stock. Are there unfinished threads tugging at you? Perhaps a course you enrolled on with enthusiasm, but never quite returned to? If so, know that you are not alone — and that there is no judgement here. Imbolc gently reminds us that beginnings can be renewed. You are warmly encouraged to revisit those lessons, to complete what you started, and to reclaim the knowledge and confidence waiting there for you.
Early spring is also a time for planning and intention-setting. Seeds are chosen long before they are sown, and so too are the paths we walk. If you feel the call to deepen your learning, to gain new skills, or to commit more fully to your Craft, this is a perfect season to say a quiet but powerful yes to yourself.
In many pagan traditions, Imbolc is a time of dedication — when covens, groves, and circles welcome new learners who wish to embark on a serious, guided course of study. Here at The Enchanted Moon Academy, that calling is answered through the Path of Earth: a year-long journey through the foundational knowledge, practices, and skills relevant to all who feel drawn to witchcraft. Eclectic, progressive, and inclusive, this path honours the diversity of modern Paganism while offering strong roots from which your own unique practice may grow.
For some of you already walking the Path of Earth, this season may also bring thoughts of what comes next. The Path of Fire — initiation and training within the Enchanted Moon priesthood — is a step of commitment, service, and deep personal transformation. These paths are not about rushing or proving oneself, but about growth, fulfilment, and the quiet pride that comes from dedicated study and achievement.
All of this learning is undertaken online, in your own time and at your own pace, with tutor support and feedback to guide you along the way. Like the returning light, it is steady rather than sudden — but profoundly life-giving.
As we witness new life emerging from beneath winter’s decay, we are reminded that we too must be willing to leave behind old mindsets, limiting beliefs, and ways of being that no longer serve us. Paganism and the Craft are living traditions — ever evolving, ever renewing — and so are we.
May this Imbolc bring you clarity, inspiration, and the courage to grow.
With warmth & gratitude,
Elder High Priestess Wort Moon

🕯️ The Turning of the Wheel: From Imbolc to Beltane 🔥
by High Priestess Copper Moon, Head of Domus Pietatis (The House of Devotional Arts)
As the Wheel turns from Imbolc towards Beltane, we move through a season of quiet awakening into one of vibrant life. This is a sacred passage — not a sudden leap, but a gentle unfurling. The earth does not rush her becoming, and neither must we.
Imbolc marks the first true stirring of spring. Though frost may still cling to the ground and the days remain cool, something unseen is already at work beneath the soil. Traditionally associated with the hearth, the flame, and the goddess Brigid, Imbolc is a festival of purification, healing, poetry, and devotion. It reminds us that light returns not with spectacle, but with persistence.
At this time, devotional practice often turns inward. Candles are lit not for celebration alone, but as acts of quiet reverence. The hearth — whether literal or symbolic — becomes a place of renewal. Many practitioners cleanse their spaces, bless their tools, and rededicate themselves to their path. These are not grand gestures, but sacred ones. A whispered prayer. A single flame. A moment of stillness held with intention.
As the weeks pass, the land begins to show her secrets. Snowdrops and crocuses pierce the cold earth. Buds swell on bare branches. Birds grow bolder in their song. This is the season between — when what was promised at Imbolc begins to take form. Devotion, too, shifts during this time. What began as intention must now be nurtured through action.
The journey toward Ostara, the Spring Equinox, brings balance. Day and night stand equal, and the energy of growth becomes undeniable. In devotional work, this is often a moment to reaffirm vows, to speak intentions aloud, and to offer thanks — not for what has already come to pass, but for what is unfolding. Faith, after all, is an act of trust in becoming.
From Ostara onward, the current quickens. Life accelerates. The world grows greener, louder, fuller. Devotional practice may become more embodied now — involving movement, song, crafting, or offerings made directly to the land. Many find themselves drawn outdoors, praying with their feet on the soil and their faces turned to the sun.
By the time we reach Beltane, the Wheel has turned fully into celebration. This is a festival of fire, fertility, union, and joy. The devotional tone shifts from quiet tending to ecstatic honouring. The sacred is no longer whispered — it is danced, sung, and celebrated in community. The devotion of the dark months finds its flowering here, in colour, scent, and connection.
Yet it is important to remember that the brilliance of Beltane is born of the stillness of Imbolc. Without the careful tending of flame in winter, there can be no great fire in spring. Devotion is not measured by volume or visibility, but by continuity — by the willingness to return, again and again, to the sacred with an open heart.
As you walk this turning of the Wheel, I invite you to ask gently:
What am I tending?
What am I nurturing into being?
And how does my devotion take shape in the world?
May your flame burn steadily, your path unfold with grace, and your devotion find both root and blossom as we journey together from Imbolc to Beltane.

🜂 A Rite of Cleansing and Renewal
A Solitary Bath or Shower Ritual for Fresh Beginnings
by High Priestess Trinity Moon, Head of Domus Ceremonia (The Ceremonial Arts)
Water has always been one of the great purifiers in the magickal traditions. It cleanses not only the body, but the subtle layers of energy we carry with us — thoughts, habits, emotional residues, and patterns that no longer serve our becoming.
This simple rite is designed for solitary practice and may be performed as a bath or shower, making it accessible to all. It is particularly suited to Imbolc and the early spring season, when we consciously release the heaviness of winter and prepare ourselves for renewal, clarity, and forward movement.
🌿 Preparing Your Cleansing Bath Salts
Before the ritual, take a few moments to prepare your bath salts with intention. This act alone is a small working of ceremonial magick — a conscious blending of matter and purpose.
You will need:
1 cup natural sea salt or Epsom salt (for cleansing and grounding)
1 tablespoon baking soda (optional, for additional physical and energetic purification)
1–2 teaspoons dried herbs, finely crushed
Suggestions: rosemary (clarity), lavender (calm), sage (cleansing), or thyme (renewal)
Optional essential oil: 3–5 drops
Lemon, eucalyptus, or frankincense work particularly well
A small bowl or jar
Method:
Place the salt into the bowl or jar. Add the baking soda and herbs, mixing slowly with your fingers or a spoon. As you do so, focus on your intention — to cleanse, release, and renew.
If using essential oils, add them last and mix thoroughly.
As you finish, say quietly or aloud:
“With salt and herb, with purpose clear,
I prepare this rite of cleansing here.”
Set the salts aside until you are ready to begin.
🕯 Preparing for the Rite
Choose a time when you will not be disturbed.
Dim the lights or light a single candle if safe to do so
You may wish to play gentle music or sit in silence
Remove jewellery or watches as a symbolic act of shedding the outer world
Stand for a moment before entering the bath or shower. Take three slow, deliberate breaths.
💧 The Ritual
For a Bath:
Run your bath as normal. When the water is ready, add a small handful of your prepared bath salts, stirring the water clockwise with your hand.
Step into the bath slowly and mindfully.
For a Shower:
Place a small dish of bath salts within reach. As the water begins to flow, take a pinch of the salts and gently rub them between your palms, inhaling their scent before allowing the water to wash them away.
✨ The Cleansing
As the water touches your body, visualise it carrying away all that is stale, heavy, or outdated — old habits, doubts, unfinished thoughts, and emotional residue.
You may wish to say:
“By water and will, I release the old.
What no longer serves me is gently washed away.”
Take your time. There is no need to rush this moment. Allow the water to move over you as both a physical and energetic cleansing.
When you feel ready, continue:
“I stand renewed, clear in intent.
I make space for growth, learning, and becoming.”
🌙 Closing the Rite
When you leave the bath or turn off the shower, pause briefly.
Pat yourself dry gently — this is not merely practical, but symbolic of care and self-respect.
Extinguish your candle (if used) and say:
“The rite is complete.
I step forward cleansed, prepared, and open to the new.”
🌱 Aftercare and Integration
After the ritual, drink water or a warm herbal tea. You may wish to journal briefly, noting anything that surfaced during the rite or any intentions you wish to carry forward.
This ritual may be repeated whenever you feel the need to release and reset — particularly at seasonal thresholds, before beginning new studies, or when stepping into a new phase of life.
Remember: renewal is not a single moment, but a practice.
With clarity and purpose,
High Priestess Trinity Moon 🕯✨
🔮 Magick & Enchantments of Spring
Spring Folk Customs and Living Traditions
by High Priest Phoenix Moon, Head of Domus Magicae (The Magickal Arts)
Spring has always been a threshold season — a time when the world appears to awaken from death, and the ancient contract between land and people is renewed. Long before calendars and formalised festivals, folk communities marked this turning not through doctrine, but through action: song, fire, blessing, and work done in conscious relationship with the land.
Across Britain and Europe, spring was never simply observed — it was worked. The customs of this season reveal a deeply practical magick, woven into everyday life and shaped by the needs of farming, fertility, protection, and hope.
🌱 Awakening the Land
One of the oldest spring customs was the ritual waking of the earth. Farmers and householders would walk the boundaries of their land, striking the soil lightly with sticks or tools, calling aloud to the spirits of place and the seeds sleeping below.
In some regions, ploughs were decorated with ribbons and greenery, while in others a symbolic “first furrow” was cut ceremonially, often accompanied by ale poured onto the soil as an offering. These acts were not superstition — they were expressions of relationship, acknowledging the land as a living partner rather than a passive resource.
🕯 Candlemas and the Return of Light
Imbolc, later absorbed into Candlemas, retained strong folk observances well into the modern period. Candles were blessed and lit not only in churches, but in homes, barns, and byre doors, marking the return of light and the promise of warmth.
Folk belief held that to light a candle at Imbolc was to invite clarity into the household, driving out illness, stagnation, and ill fortune left behind by winter. Many families would carry the candle from room to room, tracing protective signs above thresholds and hearths.
🌼 Flowers, Wells, and Holy Places
Spring was also the season of well dressing and floral offerings. Sacred wells, springs, and streams were cleaned, decorated, and honoured with flowers, ribbons made from natural, biodegradable materials, and coins. These acts served both spiritual and practical ends — keeping water sources pure while renewing the pact between people and the unseen guardians of the land.
Primroses, snowdrops, and later bluebells were treated with reverence. To bring the first flowers into the home was believed to invite blessing — but only if done respectfully. In some traditions, flowers were first offered to the spirits outdoors before any were brought inside.
🐣 Fertility, Eggs, and Renewal
Eggs have long been a symbol of spring, long predating their Christian associations. They represented life held in perfect balance — potential waiting to be released.
Folk customs included rolling eggs across fields to encourage growth, burying shells in garden beds, or painting eggs with protective symbols. These acts were often performed by children, reinforcing the communal nature of seasonal magick and the passing of tradition through lived experience.
🔥 Fire, Smoke, and Thresholds
As spring progressed toward Beltane, fire became increasingly central. Hearth ashes from winter fires were scattered onto fields, while fresh fires were kindled in homes to mark the changing season.
Smoke from burning herbs such as juniper, rosemary, or hawthorn was used to bless livestock, tools, and doorways, reinforcing protection and vitality. These customs remind us that folk magick was not elaborate — it was effective, symbolic, and rooted in daily necessity.
🌿 Spring as Working Magick
What binds these customs together is not spectacle, but intention. Spring folk practices were acts of participatory magick — people aligning their will with the natural cycle, not attempting to dominate it.
For the modern practitioner, these traditions offer a powerful lesson: magick need not be complex to be meaningful. Walking your boundaries, tending your home, blessing your tools, honouring the land — these are the roots of the Craft.
Spring does not ask us to abandon the old entirely, but to compost it. From what has decayed, something new will grow — if we tend it with care.
In study and in practice,
High Priest Phoenix Moon 🌿🔥

Foundations of Liminal Work
by High Priest Lucian Moon, Head of the Liminal Arts
There are moments in magick when we stand between — between what was and what is becoming, between breath and silence, between the worlds we know and those we sense but cannot yet name. Foundations of Liminal Work is an invitation to step consciously into these spaces of transition, power, and possibility.
This course introduces students to the principles and practices of liminality: the art of working at thresholds, crossroads, and moments of change. Drawing on ancient rites, modern practice, and deep personal experience, High Priest Lucian Moon guides students through the subtle skills required to recognise, enter, and safely navigate liminal states.
Students will explore how liminality appears in ritual, meditation, spirit contact, seasonal rites, and personal transformation. Emphasis is placed on awareness, grounding, and ethical engagement — ensuring that this powerful work is approached with respect and care.
Foundations of Liminal Work is suitable for those who feel called to the spaces between worlds: ritualists, seekers, artists, and those undergoing significant spiritual change. While accessible to beginners, the course also offers depth and insight for more experienced practitioners seeking language and structure for work they may already feel intuitively drawn toward.
This is not about escaping the everyday world, but learning how to move between worlds with intention — and return wiser for it.
Astrology: An Exploration of the Planets
by Elder High Priestess Wort Moon, Founder & Head of the Academy
The planets have long been regarded as living forces — teachers, influences, and mirrors of the inner and outer worlds. In Astrology: An Exploration of the Planets, Elder High Priestess Wort Moon invites students to deepen their understanding of these celestial powers and their role within both astrology and magickal practice.
This course focuses on the planets themselves: their symbolism, mythic origins, energetic qualities, and how they shape our lives, cycles, and spiritual development. Rather than treating astrology as a purely predictive tool, the course encourages students to form a relationship with planetary energies — learning how to observe, work with, and honour them in conscious and meaningful ways.
Students will explore how planetary influences express themselves psychologically, spiritually, and magically, and how these forces can be aligned with ritual, spellwork, and personal growth. Complex ideas are presented with clarity and warmth, making the course welcoming to those new to astrology while still offering depth for more seasoned students.
Guided by Elder High Priestess Wort Moon’s vast experience and gentle authority, this course offers a grounded yet expansive approach to planetary study — one that empowers students to read the skies with insight, curiosity, and reverence.
Whether you are beginning your astrological journey or seeking to deepen an existing practice, Astrology: An Exploration of the Planets opens a doorway to greater understanding of the celestial rhythms that shape our world and ourselves.
Binding & Banishing Magick
by High Priest Phoenix Moon, Head of Domus Magicae — The Magickal Arts
There are times in magick when creation is not the work at hand — but containment, release, and removal. Binding & Banishing Magick is a clear-eyed, responsible exploration of two of the Craft’s most powerful and often misunderstood practices.
In this course, High Priest Phoenix Moon guides students through the theory, ethics, and practical application of binding and banishing work. Far from sensationalism, these techniques are presented as tools of protection, balance, and restoration — to be used with discernment, maturity, and respect for consequence.
Students will explore when and why binding or banishing may be appropriate, how to prepare themselves energetically and psychologically, and how to carry out such workings safely and effectively. The course places strong emphasis on intention, clarity, and personal responsibility, ensuring that students understand not only how to perform these acts, but whether they should.
Drawing on ceremonial structure, folk magick, and modern practice, this course offers adaptable methods suitable for solitary practitioners and coven work alike. It is particularly valuable for those wishing to strengthen their magickal boundaries, refine their spellcraft, or develop greater confidence in handling difficult or disruptive energies.
Binding & Banishing Magick is best suited to students who are ready to approach the Craft with seriousness and integrity — and who understand that true power lies not in domination, but in wisdom, restraint, and right action.

🍲 From the Hearth of the Kitchen Witch
With Priestess Hazel Moon, Kitchen Witch of the Enchanted Moon Academy
As the light slowly lengthens and the land begins to stir, our kitchens, too, shift their rhythm. The heavy stews and dense comforts of winter start to give way to lighter, greener fare — food that nourishes without weighing us down, and gently encourages the body to wake up alongside the earth.
Early spring cooking is about transition. Roots still have an important role to play, but they are joined now by fresh shoots, hardy greens, and the first hints of softness and colour. This is a time for meals that cleanse, strengthen, and restore — food that feels like a deep breath after the long dark.
Seasonal ingredients to look out for at this time of year in the UK include leeks, onions, carrots, parsnips, swede, potatoes, kale, cabbage, spinach, and early herbs such as rosemary, thyme, parsley, and bay. These foods support digestion, circulation, and vitality, making them perfect allies for the Imbolc-to-spring threshold.
Cooking with the seasons is a quiet form of kitchen magick. As you chop, stir, and simmer, you are participating in the same cycle of renewal happening in the hedgerows and fields. Set an intention, work with care, and let your meal become both nourishment and spell.
🥣 Recipe: Spring Root & Green Herb Stew
A gentle, grounding dish for renewal and strength
Serves 4
Ingredients
1 tbsp olive oil or butter
1 large onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, crushed
2 leeks, sliced
2 carrots, diced
1 parsnip or small swede, diced
2 medium potatoes, cubed
1 tsp dried thyme (or a few fresh sprigs)
1 bay leaf
1 litre vegetable stock
2 large handfuls of kale or spinach, chopped
Salt and black pepper to taste
A handful of fresh parsley, chopped
Optional: a splash of cream or oat cream to finish
Method
Warm the oil or butter in a large pot over a gentle heat. Add the onion and leeks and cook slowly until soft and translucent, allowing their sweetness to emerge. Stir in the garlic and cook for a further minute.
Add the carrots, parsnip (or swede), potatoes, thyme, and bay leaf, stirring to coat the vegetables. Pour over the vegetable stock, bring to a gentle simmer, and cover. Cook for around 25–30 minutes, until the vegetables are tender.
Stir in the greens and allow them to wilt into the stew for the final few minutes of cooking. Season to taste, remove the bay leaf, and finish with fresh parsley and a splash of cream if desired.
Serve warm, perhaps with crusty bread, and take a moment to acknowledge the nourishment — of body, spirit, and season — that this simple dish provides.
🔥 Brigid at the Threshold
A Poem of Fire, Courage, and Becoming
by High Priest Lucian Moon, Head of the Liminal Arts
I am the spark you fear to strike,
The coal beneath the ash of habit.
You call me gentle hearth and home,
Yet I am also wildfire waiting.
Why do you warm your hands
At yesterday’s flame?
Why cling to the circle worn smooth
By cautious feet?
I stand where roads divide.
I ask not comfort, but courage.
I ask you to step where the ground
Has not yet learned your name.
Break the mould you mistake for safety.
Unlearn the spell of “this is enough.”
Creation is not born of stillness —
It rises screaming from risk.
I am forge and fracture,
Poem and ploughshare,
The fire that ruins you
Only to remake you true.
Dare to meet me uncloaked.
Dare to fail gloriously.
Dare to sing with a voice
You have not yet claimed.
Leave behind what no longer feeds you.
Carry forward only what burns.
I am Brigid —
And I am the fire within you.
🏛️ Academy Spotlight: The Houses
At the heart of The Enchanted Moon Academy are our seven Houses — each a unique sanctuary of learning, creativity, and growth. Every student on our Path of Air Mastery Stream track is welcomed into a House not only as a place of belonging but also as a guiding current of energy to shape their magical journey (see information about our Path training and advancement system for further information). This time, we shine our lantern light upon the second of our seven: Domus Divinatio, the House of Divination.
🔮 Domus Divinatio — The House of Divinatory Arts
Head of House: High Priestess Athene Moon, Mistress of Divinatory Arts (MDA)
Motto: “Visio, Voces, Veritas” — Vision, voices, truth.
Emblem: Raven
Colour: Purple
Domus Divinatio is the House of seeing, listening, and remembering. It is home to those who feel called to peer beyond the surface of things — to read the signs, hear the whispers of the unseen, and translate insight into understanding.
Divination within the Enchanted Moon tradition is not about prediction alone. It is about relationship: with symbol, intuition, spirit, and time itself. Students of this house learn to cultivate discernment, clarity, and trust in their own inner senses, while remaining grounded, ethical, and responsible in their practice.
Within Domus Divinatio, students explore a wide range of divinatory arts, from oracle and tarot reading to scrying, astrology, omen reading, and intuitive development. Emphasis is placed not just on technique, but on interpretation — learning how to hold space for messages without distortion, projection, or fear.
This is a house that teaches patience and humility. True sight is not forced; it is invited. Students are encouraged to deepen their listening skills, refine their symbolic language, and understand the role of divination as a tool for guidance, self-awareness, and empowerment rather than dependency.

Walking the Path in Her Own Time
An Interview with Anna
Some journeys begin early. Others wait patiently until the moment is right. For Anna, that moment arrived later in life — and with a clarity that feels anything but tentative.
Now 65 and living in rural Dorset, Anna joined The Enchanted Moon Academy after retiring from a long and demanding career as a midwife. With her children grown and flown, and her faithful springer spaniel Rex at her side, she found herself finally able to turn her attention inward — toward a calling she feels has been quietly present all along.
What first drew you to the Craft?
“I often think of myself as a latecomer,” Anna laughs. “I was brought up as a Christian, and for many years that framework shaped how I understood the world. But even then, I was always drawn to the rhythms of nature, to the healing arts, and to the quiet mysteries that didn’t quite fit into the boxes I was given.”
She describes a lifelong interest in complementary healing, herbs, and the natural world — interests that were woven gently into her work as a midwife. “Supporting women through birth is deeply sacred work. You learn to trust cycles, intuition, and the body’s wisdom. Looking back, I can see how aligned that is with the Craft.”
What led you to study at the academy?
“After retiring, I finally had the time and space to explore these interests properly,” she says. “I didn’t want to pick things up in a scattered way. I wanted something structured, guided, but not pressured. I looked at a few on line courses, but when I came across the Enchanted Moon Academy, something inside me just knew that it was the right choice for me.”
Anna began with An Introduction to Wicca, followed by Centring & Grounding and Foundations of Magick & SpellCraft. She describes the experience as affirming. “Everything I learned felt… familiar. As though I was remembering rather than discovering.”
What have you enjoyed most about your studies so far?
“The emphasis on grounding and responsibility,” she replies without hesitation. “Magick isn’t about escaping reality — it’s about being fully present within it. That really resonated with me.”
She is currently completing Candle Magick, which she describes as both practical and deeply reflective. “Working with flame feels very alive. It’s teaching me patience and focus — lessons I think we can all use.”
What comes next for you?
Once Candle Magick is complete, Anna plans to enrol on The Path of Earth, the academy’s year-long foundational training. “I feel ready,” she says simply. “I want to commit to this path properly — not as a hobby, but as a way of life.”
She speaks warmly of the idea of structured progression. “The Paths feel like an invitation rather than a test. They seem to offer depth without pressure, and support without dogma.”
Do you have any advice for others who feel they’ve come to the Craft ‘late’?
Anna smiles. “There is no late. There is only when you are ready.”
She adds, “Wisdom doesn’t always arrive with youth. Sometimes it needs a lifetime of experience to truly take root. If something feels natural and right, trust that.”
As spring stirs outside her Dorset home, Anna stands on the threshold of a new chapter — one shaped by curiosity, courage, and a deep respect for the old ways, newly embraced.
Her journey is a reminder that the path is always open — and that it is never too late to answer its call. Thank you Anna for sharing your experiences and thoughts with us.
